About HB Event Co
Built on family, community, and the belief that meaningful moments matter.

HB Event Co was created from a deeply personal place.
I’m a mother to two incredible kids: my 10-year-old daughter, Helen, and my 7-year-old son, Barrett. The company’s name comes from them. But it also carries another meaning: the hummingbird, a symbol that’s long held significance in our family.
Hummingbirds were the favorite bird of the family member my daughter was named after, Auntie Helen. Over time, that symbol has come to represent joy, resilience, and the reminder that even small moments can carry deep meaning, which is exactly how I view the work I do today.

My Approach
At the core of everything I do are a few simple values:
Kindness. Respect. Creativity. Organization. Forward thinking.
I’m naturally detail-oriented and solution-focused, and I love finding creative ways to solve problems while keeping things structured and manageable. But more than anything, I believe events are about people. They’re about connection, shared moments, and the feeling that something meaningful is happening.
That’s what I aim to create every time.
Why I Started HB Event Co
HB Event Co was created during a season of reflection and change in my life.
After experiencing a devastating personal loss, I found myself stepping back and asking what kind of life I wanted to build, not just professionally, but personally. For more than 18 years, I worked in public service because I’ve always felt a deep pull toward helping my community. From volunteering with nonprofits as a young person, feeding the homeless and supporting families in need, to serving in local government and now sitting on the board of a nonprofit as President, community impact has always been central to who I am.
But over time, I realized I wanted to serve in a way that felt more positive, creative, and directly connected to people.
HB Event Co was born from that shift.
The name itself reflects what matters most to me. HB comes from my two children, Helen and Barrett, who inspire everything I do. It also represents the hummingbird, a symbol of joy, resilience, hope, and love. Hummingbirds were the favorite bird of Auntie Helen, my daughter was named after, and for our family, they’ve come to represent the idea that even small, fleeting moments can carry deep meaning.
That symbolism mirrors what I believe events can do. They bring people together. They mark growth, healing, celebration, and connection. They remind communities of what they’ve built and what’s possible moving forward.
Through HB Event Co, I’m able to combine my lifelong commitment to serving my community with my love of organization, creativity, and problem solving helping businesses and non-profits create events that feel intentional, joyful, and meaningful for the people they serve.
